protective styling: twist...

So I've challenged myself to wear protective styling in the form of twist or braids all fall and winter and so far so good. This is my second set of twists (I forgot to take pictures of the first set... sue me). The first set lasted for about 2 weeks. When I did this I got lazy so instead of doing individual plaits... I did 2 strand flat twists. Came out ok especially since I'v never flat twisted my whole head before. To further illustrate how lazy I got, I only co-washed with deep conditioner and never even washed it out. I scrubbed my head with plain ol' H2O (water) to get out any residue (which I might add is close to nil since I switched over to an all natural product line... I barely even itch anymore... Can we say AWESOME) then added deep conditioner and put a bag over my head (some ppl use hair baggies, I'm cheap and use grocery store bags... great way to repurpose and help the environment, just be careful to leave yourself some room to breath... you don't want to end up in the emergency room with a grocery store bag on your head trying to explain to hubby that you weren't trying to kill yourself) to set for about an hour while I cooked dinner (no. really I did!) then took the bag off, sectioned it off and put it into pony tails while I twisted each section. Started with the top and worked my way around...

*Side note* you can totally see my henna hue in these pics. My hair looks reddish-brown and it is normally jet black...I love my henna!!
*Side note #2* this is 3 day old hair. When/if you decide to twists, it won't be as fuzzy on day 1. And if you use a gel it prob won't frizz out as much either. I just hate gel (among many other things) because it seems to dry my hair out so all I twisted with was water (because my hair was still wet), conditioner, and cocoa butter. You can twist with whatever you want or nothing at all. Its up to you.
Anyway I highly double that the flat twist will last a whole two weeks like my single plaits (but i'm definately going to push it as long as I can take it). So when I take these out, I'll finally wash and deep condition... and maybe even henna... its been about a month right lol?

Need to know how to flat twist? No need to search YouTube... I'v taken care of that for you.
*Note* this time around. I did mine wet. really doesn't matter. Some people think it's easier to deal with dry hair. I just don't like to manipulate mine too much after it has dried. Why? because it hurts!! plus I didn't want to wait forever for it to air dry first since I no longer use heat. To each their own.
